Weekly Weigh-In 4

Time for another weigh-in, is it? I was going to post pictures monthly, but I honestly don’t see a change, because although I have lost weight, it hasn’t really been a ton. Usually I lose about 8 or 10 pounds a month, but this month has been quite hard on me. I just got sick, and it seems to be sticking around. I really hope that this isn’t like last year, where every time I would try to go running… it just felt weird to breathe the cool air, and really messed with how I felt.

Also, I woke up a little late today, so I ran out the door to get my daughter to preschool and never got a chance to weigh myself this morning. Not a huge biggie though, I weighed myself tonight and I was still at the same weight. Therefore, I know I have still lost weight this week, but I’ll have a tangible number tomorrow morning instead.

I only did sort of alright with my resolutions this week since I really haven’t felt like doing much. I haven’t been drinking any good amounts of water, and I am getting some light exercise, but not nearly as much as I wish I was getting. I keep bringing my boyfriend into town later at night after the kids are in bed (so that Grampy just has to keep an ear out for them) and we go for some streetlight walks. Last nights walk was wonderful, our town was getting ready for a street hockey tournament so there was music playing and an all around feeling of pride in the community. Usually our walks last from 20 to 30 minutes. Not too fast, slow enough to just enjoy each other’s company and talk, but fast enough to be able to get our heart rates up a bit. Hey, even Aldric is enjoying it… so it’s really a win-win here. I get him to exercise, he barely notices.

Also, new this week. EATING HEALTHY YAY! I made a list last week, and didn’t really stick to it because we never had a chance to go pick up the meat (we shop at two different stores in the area), so I just reused last week’s list again, and it’s going over much better. Last night we had our “Treat meal” which was spaghetti. And this morning I ate some fruit salad instead of cereal simply because that was really what I felt like eating. But either way, it’s still quite healthy. And I never knew I could love fruit so much! I just add a dollop of greek yogurt and a bit of honey and presto, instant breakfast. Just as quick as cereal, but it seems to keep me fuller for longer, and I really love eating it… actually… just writing about it makes me want to go get some more… be right back.

Yum.

Okay, so for this week, again the main focus will be on me getting healthy again. I want to boost fluid intake, because I should anyway since I’m sick. I also need to see if I can fit just a little more exercise in my day. Thankfully my boyfriend will be helping me clean up tomorrow, because a clean house means more time to work out. The living room got a little out of hand since I’ve been sick, but with his help tomorrow it should be back up and running. Lastly, I want to actually really give a good attempt at sticking with this meal plan for the week.

Hopefully it won’t be too hard,
Barb

The launch of 3toa10life.com

Hey guys!

Just finished updating my blog, I said when I reached a certain amount of followers I would off the .wordpress.com bit and I’ve reached that goal! So, now everything is just under 3toa10life.com!

Squeeek! Excitement, the next step is to host my own domain or something, but I’m not anywhere near that… because, to be honest. That stuff totally scares me, lol. I’m not very good with technical stuff and I anticipate many problems when I switch to that. For the meantime, this works great, and I want to thank you for your support!

Much love!

Barb

Vacation gone wrong

Well, after writing nothing for a little over a week, I thought I would put up a quick post to let you know that I am still around.
How did the vacation turn out? You ask. Terrible, hahaha. We managed to clean about 1/3 of the basement, and my father’s room. We never touched the attic, or cubby, or hell… even the living room and the kitchen! Those two areas caught the crap and now I’m going to spend today getting them back in line for our daily living. Also, our dryer is currently oit of commission. Usually at this time of year, I don’t care. I prefer line-drying my clothes anyway. However, our weather hasn’t felt like cooperating up until today, so I have this mountain of laundry to go through! I think laundry is one of the more frustrating things in this house. I get all caught up, and then BAM something happens… something ALWAYS happens when it comes to laundry.

Well that sucks, you might say, but was I able to keep a healthy lifestyle? Get running and all that jazz? No. I never did. I think we ate out probably 80% of the time, which of course wreaked havoc on our finances and our health. I put on 4 of the pounds I had already worked so hard to lose!!!

Well, with that all said, I’ll go get back to fixing up my house so that I can at least have a clean living room to sit in tonight while I work on…. something. Or don’t. I might just play video games or read, lol.

Sometimes, it’s not about beating yourself up over the things you did or didn’t do, it’s about how you pick yourself up afterwards and carry on. I’m choosing to go get some stuff done, and then enjoy this beautiful day with my family. Because the one thing we did accomplish, was spending more time together, and at the end of the day, I think that’s what my daughters enjoy the most.

Talk to you soon,
Barb

Party and Vacation

Well, all in all we had seven people over, and I’m pretty sure we all had a good time. The party was supposed to start around 9, with the exception of two friends showing up around 7:30 instead. Any guesses on when the first guest popped in? 6:30. We were still washing dishes! Hahah, the next guests showed up at about 7:30, and another shortly afterwards. So we told the last guy that he might as well come.

The night was fun in general, even though I never did have any time to really get ready! We all had a blast, we played the game of things, and one of the girls had to leave. So afterwards we all moved into the living room and played some Taboo. Of course this all happened while we ate and drank. The evening ended around 2 in the morning, and everyone made it home safe, sound and legally since we had designated drivers.

So, what did this mean for day one of the boyfriend’s week off? It was pretty much wrote off. I went to a boudoir shoot with two of the girls from the party, we had a lovely model! Spectacular to work with. I also got to take a few pictures of a local musician, he has an amazing voice. I actually got picked up and brought to the location of the shoot by a girl who I know, but not well. Remember, it’s tough for me to make friends! Haha, but she’s really sweet and nice. After the shoot, she brought me back and we just sat in her car and talked for a while. It was nice, and she said that next time she came to a party, she would probably spend the night so that she could drink a little more with us. Also, she said she wanted to hang out again sometime. Good news! We did this before, but we never ended up talking until our mutual friend brought us together again, so I guess we’ll see what happens. I really would enjoy a female friend to have around (closer than the three hour drive that I currently have between myself and my only female friend!).

Then I came home and slept! I never ended up sick or anything, just tired. Really, really tired. This meant that there was no cleaning today. I do feel a little guilty, but I guess I’ll have to make up for that tomorrow. I may actually go over and organize the desk/office area tonight if I get ambitious. Luckily, we tidied the whole place up pre-party, so it’s not like there’s a lot to make up in the living quarters.

Off I go! Time to do… something at least.

Makeup and hair test!

image

Tonight I decided to try out some ideas on hair and makeup for tomorrow night’s semi-formal get-together.
All in all, I must say I’m pretty pleased with what I see there.
I did a blue smokey eye, and a curly up-do.
I just bought the shirt from Walmart tonight, and I must say I am super-pleased. It is really comfortable while still looking classy enough for a little semi.
I need to add some accessories, maybe some arm bands and probably silver earrings to match the chain on the shirt.
While I was out, I also bought Taboo, some glasses and a few other things too. I’ll try to take a few seconds out of tomorrow’s prepping to take pictures!

Check me out on instagram if you want to see them where they’ll come out first @3toa10life!

Wish me luck!

There’s a party in my future.

This may not be considered really upgrading your life to some, but to me… it’s a pretty big step.
My bff will be coming down to town for a weekend, and last time she was here we had a little gathering with friends, drinks and games. It was a blast! You see, I am so.friggin.shy. So much so, that I don’t have many friends. So I’m inviting the friends that I do have, plus some of the friends that my bff has down here, and having another party. This one a little larger. We have 5 people confirmed, with the potential for 11 or so. I think if I made it up to six or seven people that would be fantastic, lol.
I love the thought of entertaining, but usually in this house it consists of having two guys over and them playing video games with my boyfriend all night long.
First I need to clean the house, then I’m going to pick up some new glasses for the drinks, followed by maybe another new board game. Like taboo or something. We currently have the game of things, and I strongly recommend it!
The party is only starting around 9 or so because the kids will be asleep in bed at that time. There shouldn’t be so much planning involved in this, because it is such a small group, but we have so much to celebrate! Today is my 7th anniversary, my bff just found out she got the apartment she wanted!
I think to me, this party or at least all parties I’m hosting in general will help me out. I gain confidence, I meet new people. It’s just a really fun time to sit down and unwind with friends! Everyone can use more of that. So Saturday’s post will likely include the prep and party coverage!

I’ll give you guys updates on what I’m buying through instagram so follow me @3toa10life on instagram!

What are your favorite party games?

Wish me luck!
Barb.

Welcome to my blog!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to put a quick note up to explain what this is all about. My life is not disastrously terrible, I swear. My children are healthy, I have a roof over our heads, etc. However, I feel that my/our lives and house could really use some general improvement. I want to share this with the world, as a means of keeping myself in check, hopefully motivating myself to really finish some of the stuff I don’t want to do, and to keep going with the things that need to be done. AS WELL as a means of motivating others in situations similar to mine to change their lives as well. We’ll do it little by little, so everyone can keep up. If there’s something you want me to blog about or try out, etc. feel free to let me know. You can reach me by e-mail at 3toa10life@gmail.com.

A little bit about myself is: I’m a mother of two beautiful daughters, and I live in an older farm house with my boyfriend, my children, my father, my uncle, and various other people depending on what seems to be going on at the time. I do some photography work, as well as work for Canada Post (please don’t get angry with me if you didn’t get your mail today! Haha). No, but seriously I enjoy my work. Sometimes, I don’t take pictures of my beautiful children playing and looking adorable simply because the background is a terrible mess that I call my home. Why am I telling you this? Because I’m not perfect, I have flaws, and we’re going to at least work on these faults to improve ourselves. I have a lot of things to deal with and work on, but it never seems as though there’s enough time to finish everything. This is a universal story, that I know doesn’t only apply to me. So if you can relate, follow along!

This blog will follow along on many different paths, farming, a journey towards health, clean(er) eating, home improvement, crafts, and kids. Why? Because this is what I’m working on. If you want to make a change, this is the time for you!

Thanks for reading,
